Problems of the 1920's
Hi, my name is Lucy. My subject is Problems of the 1920's. In the 1920's there were many problems that were faced. One big problem in the 1920's was Prohibition. Prohibition means something is not allowed. One thing that was not allowed in the 1920's was alcohol. People in the 1920's loved alcohol. When they heard that alcohol was against the law they got very angry. They got so mad that they would demand to drink alcohol. Some got so mad that they would get barrels of alcohol and crack it open so that it would spill all over. They also did what they are doing in the picture. In the picture they are walking the streets demanding for alcohol. As you can see Prohibition was a big problem in the 1920's.
The great dust bowl
The 1920's also faced Dust Bowls. In fact it is one of the biggest Dust Bowls ever. A Dust Bowl is when a lot of dust stirs up into the air. It is kind of like a tornado or a sandstorm, but just dust and air stirred up together. Also it stays to the ground instead of making that funnel shaped thing. The Dust Bowl was very effective to farm owners. This was because the Dust Bowl was after a really bad drought. The drought caused all the plants to brake, and crumble away. So the sand/dirt was not padded down. So when the Dust Storm hit the crops that were left all went away. That meant no more crops to sell, or eat. Which meant no more money. So then all the farmers had to move to the East, South, and North. They basically just had to leave the hole plains area. In the pic. is a picture of the
ku klux klan
The worst problem EVER in the the 1920's was a club called the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan means Circle or Ring of Membership. The Ku Klux Klan did horrible stuff. They did things like burn down the cross! The worst thing they did was they would get out at night and ride on horses and attack helpless people. They did this because they didn't think some people were real Americans. They just did things for no reason, just because they didn't like those people! I think that Ku Klux Klan should not have done it to Jewish people and African Americans, or any race of people they did not think were Americans. One reason is African Americans had already been through enough and they didn't need to be treated badly anymore. I also think that for them to just attack Jewish people who are helpless is really just mean. What did they ever do to Ku Klux Klan besides hide from them because they are so scared. They should not do this to children. How could children do anything to them. It just makes me so mad! Anyway as you can see Ku Klux Klan.
Predjudice
The final thing that I am going to talk about is prejudice Prejudice is basically like segregation It is when some people treat other people with no respect and unfairness. The people that faced prejudice in 1920's were African Americans, Asian Americans, and women, and immigrants, and Mexican Americans. Everyone treated them like they were so different. Like they were dirty, couldn't work well, and are uneducated but they are very wrong, That got the African Americans, and women, and Asian Americans mad. This made them start to do things like sit-ins. Sit-ins are when people all go to a place were they aren't allowed, and just sit until they get what they want, or close to it. Many people started to do that in the 1920's.
